Happy New Year, from your Independence Alumni Association!

The Alumni Association is planning our next event, the Educator of Excellence Award for 2024. The Award recognizes the accomplishments and achievements of an educator and/or administrator serving the Independence Schools.

The Association invites you to nominate a faculty member or administrator, past or present, who exemplifies the true meaning of an educator through their dedication and devotion to the students of our school district. Please submit your endorsement for a candidate and read more about this award on our website, including a list of past recipients.

Mark Your Calendar -- Meetings & Important Dates

The Alumni Association meets quarterly on the second Monday of the month in March, June, September and November.

Newsletter Submission Deadline for the Spring Spectator is Sunday, May 19th.

Newsletter Submission Deadline for the Winter Spectator is Sunday, November 17th.

Donations and Memorabilia

We are always looking for Memorabilia from your high school years. If you have rings, class photos, and yearbooks, particularly from 1926 thru 1928, 1931 thru 1944, 1946 thru 1951, 1992 and 1994, or other related items you would like to donate, please email the Alumni Association at Alumni Association. We'll take memorabilia from any year but those are the years where we're really lacking items!

The Alumni Association Welcomes Donations To Fund our Giving and Support Programs

The Alumni Association was started in 2007 and is dedicated to promoting educational memories, one class at a time. Current active members represent graduates from the Classes of 1942 to 2023.

Annually, the Association Awards two $750.00 Graduating Senior Awards; Presents an Annual Gift to Independence High School from $500.00 to $1,500.00; Supports the Graduating Class Yearbook ($350.00); and Recognizes one or more teachers as an "Educator of Excellence."

Our 2024 donation goal is $3,500.00.

You do NOT have to be an IHS graduate to donate. Graduates, parents, friends, and businesses are all welcome!
